Police have arrested Bishwanath Sahni, 30, from the Badnihar area on March 28 on charges of cutting the leg of his wife, Harikala Sahni, 25, from Biruwatol, Parsa Gadhi Municipality–3.
According to DSP Basnet, after Harikala asked her father for money to go abroad and he refused, her husband Bishwanath tied her hands and mouth on March 15, placed her leg on a chopping block, cut it, and then fled. The victim filed a complaint against her husband at the District Police Office on March 16. The injured Harikala was treated at LS Neuro Hospital in Bara. Police stated that Harikala’s left leg had to be amputated.
DSP Haribahadur Basnet said that a case has been registered against Sahni for attempted murder, assault, and grievous bodily harm.
From the Gender Violence Control Network Fund, SP Sudipraj Pathak handed over a check of Rs. 50,105 to the victim’s mother, Sumitra Kami, on March 30 to cover her daughter’s medical expenses. Similarly, DSP Basnet personally contributed Rs. 5,000.
