Chairman of CPN (UML) and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was arrested by police at his residence on the morning of March 28.
Oli, who had been residing in a rented house at Gundu, Suryabinayak Municipality–7, was arrested, according to Chief of the District Police Range Bhaktapur and Superintendent of Police Surya Bahadur Khadka.
Police stated that he was arrested in the process of implementing the recommendations of a commission led by former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki, which was formed to investigate the “Genji Aandolan.”
A team deployed under the command of Superintendent of Police Khadka from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office had reached Gundu at 5 a.m. Oli was arrested and taken to the District Police Range, Kathmandu.
Former Prime Minister Oli was taken from the District Police Range Kathmandu to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for a health check-up.
He, who had been arrested from Bhaktapur this morning, was initially kept at the District Police Range Kathmandu. On March 27, the first Cabinet meeting led by Balen Shah had decided to implement the commission’s recommendation to file criminal charges against Oli.
Similarly, former Home Minister and Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak was also arrested by police from his residence on the morning of Chaitra 14, 2082. Police stated that he was arrested in the process of implementing the recommendations of the commission led by former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki, which was formed to investigate the “Genji Aandolan.”
Lekhak, who had been residing in a rented house at Katunje, Suryabinayak Municipality–5, was arrested, according to Chief of the District Police Range Bhaktapur and Superintendent of Police Surya Bahadur Khadka. A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested him and took him to Kathmandu.
