Clash in Kanchanpur Prison Leaves One Inmate Injured

In Kanchanpur District Prison, during a dispute among inmates on the evening of March 22, a clash occurred, resulting in one inmate being injured.

The injured inmate is Ganesh Bista, a resident of Bedkot Municipality–9, who was in Block ‘A’ of Kanchanpur District Prison.

During the dispute, Bhuvan Air, a resident of Shuklafanta Municipality–9, who was in Block ‘B’ of Kanchanpur District Prison, struck Bista with a chopper, causing the injury, according to DSP Sagar Bohara of the Kanchanpur District Police Office.

Bista, who was injured by the chopper strike, received two stitches at Mahakali Provincial Hospital, Kanchanpur, and his current health condition is reported to be stable, DSP Bohara added.

Both individuals are inmates held for pre-trial custody in a narcotics-related case. The jail administration stated that, in coordination with the Department of Prison Management, preparations are underway to transfer both to another prison.

This prison, which holds twice its intended capacity, has previously witnessed continuous incidents of clashes.
