Clash in Jhumka Prison; 25 Injured

The administration of Jhumka Prison has informed of a clash between the prisoners on April 13, 2022. According to the Prison, 25 were injured in the clash.

Jailer Pradeep Shah said the clash took place between the inmates of Block B. Among the 25 injured, five were severely injured and were admitted to the district hospital for treatment. ‘The clash took place between two groups for the position of the guard of the prison’, added Shah. Twenty of the injured were treated in the prison from the health workers.

According to the prison administration, the prison became chaotic after the previous two guards; Khadga Bahadur Rai of block B and John Nalbo Limbu of block A of Jhumka Prison were arrested and transferred to another prison by a team of District Police Office, Sunsari on March 16. They had gone to the market to buy raw materials for making a bamboo chair.

Rai was transferred to Dillibazaar Prison and Limbu was transferred to Bhimfedi Prison, informed SP Sanjay Singh Thapa.

Jailer Pradip Shah said that the clash took place when there was a dispute over who would replace the two guards.

The prison administration has stated that the details of those injured in the clash have not been disclosed for investigation.
