A joint team deployed from the Ward Police Office, Shripur, and the Police Post Bhiswadanda arrested the accused, and further investigation is ongoing, according to the police. The girl’s medical examination was conducted the same day at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj.
Eight individuals who had been arrested on suspicion of potentially disrupting the House of Representatives member election held on March 5 were released on general date (ordinary appearance) on March 10, by the District Police Office Surkhet.
Police had arrested them on February 25 on suspicion of being involved in anti-election activities. Those arrested included: Narayan Nyaupane, 66, district in-charge of the Revolutionary Communist Party from Birendranagar Municipality–1; Dhir Darji (Debit Pariyar), 30, district secretary of the Scientific Socialist Communist Party from Narharinath Rural Municipality–7, Kalikot; Karna Bahadur BC, 41, bureau member of the Revolutionary Communist Party from Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality–6; Shyam Kuwar, district secretary of the Scientific Socialist Party from Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City–12, Kailali; Rajkumar Poudel, also known as Raju, 38, district secretary of Bahumat Party from Birendranagar–11, Surkhet; Rant Bahadur Wali, 54, district secretary of CPN (Revolutionary) from Bheriganga Municipality–12, Surkhet; Purna Tiruwa, 66, ward committee member from Bheriganga Municipality–9; and Man Bahadur Malla, 38, from Chaurjahari Municipality–8, Rukum West.
According to DSP Mohan Jung Budhathoki of the District Police Office Surkhet, those arrested were released on general date after 12 days.
He further stated that eight individuals who had earlier been arrested on the charge of disturbing public peace and security by organizing a motorcycle rally without permission in Birendranagar Municipality on February 7 had also already been released.
