Police have arrested Sher Bahadur Pariyar, 38, a central committee member of Nepal Communist Party (Majority) and Dang District Secretary from Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City–5, and Narendra BK, 25, a central committee member of All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) and its Dang District Chairperson, originally from Musikot Municipality–7, Rukum West.
According to the party, Pariyar was arrested from Manpur, Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City–18, and BK was arrested from Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City–15 on Falgun 12. Central Office Secretary Aviral of the Nepal Communist Party (Majority) and ANNISU (Revolutionary) Central Chairperson Birendra Shah stated on February 24, claiming that the two were arrested without reason while engaged in party activities and demanding their immediate release.
The statement condemned what it described as an unlawful arrest that curtailed the natural right to peaceful political activity and called for their unconditional release. The party has previously announced a boycott of the House of Representatives by-election scheduled for March 5 and has been carrying out various protest programs. Meanwhile, the Dang District Police Office has not issued any response regarding the arrest of the party’s leaders and cadres.
