The police arrested Shobhe Tharu alias Khome Tharu, 58, of Banaganga Municipality-2, Tinaiya, on February 18, from Kapilbastu on charges of placing suspicious objects resembling bombs in various public places across Kapilbastu district.
According to the police, the accused allegedly placed the objects to terrorize the public at the East-West Highway section located in Gorusinge forest area of Buddhabhumi Municipality-2, near Bargadi Bridge over the Banganga River in Maharjgunj Municipality-2, and near the Shivapur Ranger Post along the East-West Highway in Shivaraj Municipality-1.
DSP Ripendra Kumar Singh of the District Police Office, Kapilbastu, stated that, acting on special intelligence, the accused involved in placing explosive materials was arrested, and further legal proceedings have been initiated.
DSP Singh further informed that a case has been registered against the accused under Chapter 7 (Offenses Related to Explosive Substances) of the National Penal Code 2017.
Police have also stated that the accused is a general member of the Nepal Communist Party (Bahumat).
