The police have arrested four individuals in connection with the killing of a single woman, Ratnakumari Kutwal, 49, of Charkhu, Siddhicharan Municipality–4, along with two other killings.
The arrests were made in relation to the case in which Ratnakumari Kutwal’s body was found under suspicious circumstances at her home on October 13, 2025, as well as the killing of two other individuals.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested the four suspects for allegedly collectively killing Ratnakumari by stabbing her and looting her jewelry, and publicly disclosed the arrests on January 4, 2026.
The police named the accused in the collective murder of Ratnakumari as Milan, 28, alias Sangam Rai, of Chishankhugadhi Rural Municipality–3; Binod Rai, 30, of Chishankhugadhi Rural Municipality–4; Prakash Bhujel, 30, and Dorje, 32, alias known as Ashok Bhujel, of Chishankhugadhi Rural Municipality–8.
Binod Rai of Chishankhugadhi Rural Municipality–4 was arrested from Diya on January 2, while the other three were arrested from Ratamate on January 3 and publicly disclosed the next day.
After Ratnakumari Kutwal, who lived alone, was found dead, the police recovered evidence based on information provided by locals and conducted a postmortem at the District Hospital on October 14, 2025. The same group is also accused of killing Shobhitman Thapa Magar, 60, and his wife Ratnamaya Thapa Magar, 60, who ran Shobhitman Grocery Store in Bhadure Gairigaun, Chishankhugadhi Rural Municipality–6, on the night of December 30, 2025.
Both victims were killed with a sickle and other sharp weapons, suffering fatal blows to the right temple and ear. After the killings, the group allegedly covered the victims with hay in the cowshed and looted approximately Rs. 100,000 in cash, along with two tolas of jewelry and six tolas of raw gold from the shop and house, before fleeing the scene.
Following a series of killings in the district, a joint investigation team deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau, Lazimpat, Koshi Province Police Office, Biratnagar, and District Police Office, Okhaldhunga, conducted an investigation and arrested the individuals involved before publicly disclosing their arrests.
