School Closed for Three Days After Teachers and Students Fall Sick

Tribhuvan Secondary School of Melung Rural Municipality-6 has been closed for three days after teachers and students showed symptoms of cold, cough, and sore throat.

According to a notice issued by school principal Santosh Shrestha, the school has been closed from December 14 to December 16, 2025 after students studying at the school fell ill.

Health team, including doctors, in coordination with Melung Rural Municipality, started health screening and medicine distribution after most students, teachers and even parents associated with the school developed symptoms of fever, cold, cough, and sore throat. As the examination indicated a type of communicable disease with signs of rapid transmission, the school was closed following the recommendation to remain cautious and shut down the school for at least three days.

From December 10, most students, teachers, and parents began showing symptoms of fever, cold, cough, and sore throat. Among the sick students, one received treatment at Pashupati Chaulagain Memorial Hospital in Charikot and returned home, while the remaining students are in home isolation, Principal Shrestha said. According to Principal Shrestha, there are currently 325 students enrolled at the school.
