Problems Due to Lack of Body Management in Gorkha Hospital

At the mortuary of Province Hospital, Gorkha, problems have worsened as bodies have remained unclaimed and unmanaged for the past five months. Currently, four unclaimed bodies are in the mortuary. Locals report that delays in managing the bodies have started causing a foul odor.

Siddhartha Khanal, the Medical Superintendent of Province Hospital, Gorkha, stated that the situation has arisen due to the inability to properly manage the bodies. Additionally, there is now no space to store new bodies. When bodies remain for a long time, it also creates problems with the post-mortem of other bodies. The hospital has been urging for faster management of the bodies. The mortuary has the capacity to store two bodies, but currently is  managing four bodies. The prolonged stay of bodies has also affected post-mortem procedures.

The mortuary has been filled with unclaimed bodies from various parts of the district. Krishna Rana Magar, Chief of Gorkha Municipality, stated that they are making efforts to manage these bodies. He added that they are looking for spaces to properly manage the bodies and arrangements will be made soon.
