Police arrested two of the nine juveniles who escaped from the Child Reform Home of Biratnagar Metropolitan City-3 on November 6. According to SP Kabita Katuwal of the District Police Office, the juveniles had pushed aside the police personnel on security duty and fled. According to SP Katuwal, a group of nine juveniles housed at the reform home escaped by taking advantage of the gate being opened around the time security staff were leaving for home. The juveniles pushed three police personnel on duty and fled the premises. While two of the nine escapees were immediately arrested, seven juvenile offenders are still at large.
SP Katuwal stated that the escapees from the child reform home were all above 18 years of age and had overpowered the police personnel on duty before fleeing. The reform home administration informed that the families of the escapees have been notified and instructed to inform the police if the fugitives return home. Police stationed at the child reform home are required to perform duty without uniforms or weapons. Since individuals above 18 years of age are housed in the facility, they were able to overpower the security personnel. Authorities have confirmed that the search for the escapees has begun.
Previously, during the jailbreak during the Gen-z protest, 206 out of 255 inmates had escaped from the reform home on September 9. Of those, 191 have been re-arrested, while police continue to search for 15 remaining fugitives.
