On November 4, the victim filed a complaint at Haripur Police Station against Birendra Kumar Mahto,42,of Haripur Municipality–2, accusing him of caste-based discrimination. According to the complaint, on November 1, the accused allegedly threatened and physically abused Satendra Kumar Paswan,27, of the same place at Shiv Temple in Haripur Municipality-3, stating that he should not enter the temple because he belonged to a ‘lower caste’.
According to hospital in-charge Manoj Kumar Yadav, the victim’s medical examination was conducted on November 5 at Malangwa District Hospital. Inspector Shiva Kattel of Haripur Police Station informed that following the complaint, the accused Mahto is currently absconding and they are searching for him.
