Police arrested Ratan Sada,38, from Mataleshwar, Mirchaiya Municipality-10 on October 28, for the charges of killing his wife Sunita Sada, 35, who had been living in Bhusimahuliya, Surunga Municipality-3. According to reports, during a domestic dispute on the afternoon of October 28, the accused struck his wife Sunita on the head with an axe, causing serious injuries.
Sunita was immediately taken to Provincial Hospital, Lahan and was later referred to B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan on October 29 for further medical care. However, due to a lack of funds for treatment, Sunita was discharged and sent home on 2 November. According to her family, she passed away at her home in Mataleshwar, Mirchaiya Municipality-10 on the evening of November 2. Her body was taken to Provincial Hospital, Lahan for post-mortem on the evening of November 3. The post-mortem was completed on November 4, and the body was handed over to her relatives.
DSP Dambar Bahadur Puri of the Saptari District Police Office stated that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
