Eleven Gen-Z Protesters from Koshi Province Declared Martyrs

Out of the 45 people who lost their lives during the Gen-Z protest and were declared martyrs by the government on November 3, eleven are from Koshi Province. Those declared martyrs from Koshi Province are: Santosh Bishwakarma of Belka Municipality-4, Udaypur; Shriyam Chaulagai of Belbari Municipality-11, Morang, Abhishek Shrestha of Inaruwa Municipality-6, Sunsari, Mohan Sardar of Itahari Sub-metropolitan City-14, Sunsari, Chhatraman Kuthumi of Pakhribas Municipality-2, Dhankuta, Sajan Rai of Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-22, Sunsari, Sarkumar Rai of Chaudandigadhi Rural Municipality-3, Udaypur, Prabin Kulung of Silichong Rural Municipality-3, Sankhuwasabha, Gyanendra Sedhai of Arjundhara Municipality-11, Jhapa; Dinesh Rajbanshi of Arjundhara Municipality-8, Jhapa, Kamal Bhandari of Hilihang Rural Municipality-2, Panchthar.

The protest was staged on September 8 and 9, demanding good governance, and against corruption and social media ban. During the protests, eleven people from Koshi Province lost their lives in Kathmandu, Jhapa, and Sunsari.

According to Minister for Communications Jagdish Kharel, a total of 45 individuals have been declared martyrs based on studies and recommendations made by a committee under the Ministry of Home Affairs, as well as other security agencies and District Administration Offices.

According to Ministry Spokesperson Ananda Kafle, the Cabinet meeting has officially declared 45 individuals as Gen-Z martyrs, and their names will be published in the Nepal Gazette.
