Fifty-two Escaped Inmates Arrested from Kavre

Kavre Police arrested 52 inmates who had escaped from various prisons across the country on September 9 during the protests. According to police, the arrested individuals included juveniles, who were sent to the Bhaktapur Child Reform Home, while the others were taken to the Kavrepalanchok District Jail. SP Komal Shah, chief of the District Police Office, said the 52 detainees, inmates, and juveniles were facing charges under 13 different case titles. Among those arrested, 24 had escaped from the Central Jail, 18 from Nakkhu Jail, three from Sindhuli Jail, two from Jhumka Jail in Sunsari, one each from Dillibazar Jail, Bhaktapur Child Reform Home, Nepalgunj Juvenile Correction Home, and the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau’s custody, and one from the custody of the Kathmandu District Police Office making a total of 52 rearrested.

Among them, the 52 arrested individuals include: 14 for rape, 12 for killing, seven for drug-related offenses, four for theft, three for vehicular killing, three for human trafficking, two for abduction and unlawful confinement, two for fraud, one for counterfeiting, one for wildlife poaching and smuggling, one for gambling and money laundering, one (foreign national) for immigration law violations, and one for involvement in the rape industry.

Similarly, during the protests, 90 inmates from Kavre escaped from various jails. Among them, 14 are from Bhimlu Rural Municipality, 12 from Chaurideurali Rural Municipality, 10 from Roshi Rural Municipality, nine from Panchkhal Municipality, eight from Mandandeupur Municipality, seven from Mahabharat Rural Municipality, six each from Namobuddha Municipality, Khanikhola Rural Municipality, and Dhulikhel Municipality, five from Panauti Municipality, four from Banepa Municipality, and two each from Bethanchok and Temal Rural Municipalities.
