Kaluram Mardaniya, 55, of Madi Municipality-2, was allegedly beaten and injured by police beating in the grounds of hiding Tharu youths who came to Madi on the night of 8 October following a love marriage.
Rambandhu Pokharel, ward chairperson of Madi Municipality-6, stated that the injured received treatment at Baghaunda Hospital and was later referred to Bharatpur Hospital for further care. Regarding the incident, the Tharu Kalyankarini Sabha, Area No. 1, Madi, submitted a memorandum along with a protest rally to the District Administration Office, Madi, on 13 October. Chitwan Police Chief SP Govinda Puri stated that the incident was not carried out with malicious intent. He explained that the situation escalated after some arguments arose during attempts to mediate and explain the matter.
