Number of People Registering for Voter List Increases

A growing number of citizens are actively updating their names in the voter list during the extended period at the District Election Office in Gulmi. The update process, which had been suspended since 3 October, resumed on 26 September, and 140 individuals have registered their details so far, according to Krishiram Ghimire, Election Officer.

Election Officer Ghimire stated that, within the deadline set by the Commission at the mid November, they expect between 5,000 and 8,000 people to update their names in the voter list. He added that individuals returning from abroad, those in the new age group, and residents who had not previously updated their details at home have now come to the office to register their information.

Following the announcement of the election date on 5 March, the District Election Office has also begun preparing for the election. According to the directives of the Election Commission, Election Officer Ghimire stated that the office has been engaged in updating the voter list, assessing the condition of physical infrastructure, analyzing the status of personnel and election materials, and sending reports to request additional resources.

In accordance with the voter list update and objection program, a notice has been issued regarding the removal of deceased voters’ names from the voter list. Names of 328 deceased individuals have been removed from the voter list across the district: Chandrakot 25, Chhatra 28, Dhurkot 24, Gulmidarwar 33, Isma 25, Kaligandaki 23, Madane 25, Malika 22, Musikot 36, Resunga 30, Rurukshetra 26, and Satyawati 31.

Additionally, 47 entries were corrected for errors, 49 were relocated, and 82 were removed as duplicate entries. According to the 2022 voter list in Gulmi, there were a total of 223,850 voters in the district, comprising 110,728 men and 113,120 women.

In the last election, Gulmi had 142 voting locations and 279 voting centers.
