Free Health Insurance for People With Disabilities

Ghiring Rural Municipality has announced that it will provide free health insurance for people with disabilities. The municipality will cover free health insurance for 78 individuals who hold disability identity cards in categories ‘C’ and ‘D’. According to Vice-Chairperson Radhadevi Adhikari, this initiative is being implemented under the disability-targeted program of the current fiscal year, as per the decision made in the Local Disability Coordination Committee meeting held on September 4.

According to Adhikari, the health insurance program is being advanced with the aim of ensuring access to healthcare for persons with disabilities. The municipality has already issued a notice to health insurance agents within the municipality, requesting them to initiate the health insurance process for persons with disabilities in the respective wards, as per the municipal officer Dhurvaraj Lamichhane.

He stated that during the process of payment from the municipality to the Health Insurance Office Tanahun, the concerned disability identity card, citizenship certificate, or birth certificate must be submitted by mid October. According to him, health insurance will be provided for 17 persons with ‘D’ category disabilities, 57 persons with ‘C’ category disabilities, and 4 persons whose disability category has not been identified. Accordingly, 17 individuals are from Ghiring Rural Municipality-1, 14 from Ward- 2, 20 from Ward-3, 15 from Ward-4, and 12 from Ward-5.
