Police have re-arrested three inmates who escaped from Jhumka Jail in Sunsari and Nakkhu Jail in Kathmandu during the Gen-Z protest. The inmates were taken into custody in Sankhuwasabha on 22 September. Inspector Ram Kumar Lamichhane of the District Police Office stated that Narayan Rai, 41, who had been serving a sentence for theft in Nakkhu Jail, was arrested at his home in Chainpur Municipality-10. Additionally, Subash Tamang, 31, of Chainpur Municipality-9, who escaped from Jhumka Jail while serving a sentence for rape, and approximately 57-year-old Gombu Sherpa of Chichila Rural Municipality-2, serving a sentence for attempted rape, were also arrested.
According to the police, Tamang and Sherpa had escaped from Jhumka Jail, whereas Rai had escaped from Nakkhu Jail. Rajan Ghimire, Chief of the District Jail, Khandbari, stated that all three arrested inmates are scheduled to be transferred to Jhumka Jail on 24 September.
