Landslide Displaced 11 Families, 12 Houses at Risk

With the reactivation of the monsoon that entered Koshi Province on May 30, 2025, floods and landslides in the Himalayan district of Taplejung have displaced 11 families in Maiwa Khola Rural Municipality. A total of 12 houses are at high risk of landslides. Continuous rainfall over the past few days has triggered several landslides, displacing local residents and putting a dozen families at risk.

Chairperson of Rural Municipality, Bijay Prakash Wanem, stated that landslides have caused damage in Dhungesanghu of Ward No. 2, Sanghu of Ward No. 4, and Fakumba of Wards No. 5 and 6. According to Chairperson Wanem, two families in Dhungesanghu have been displaced due to landslides. In Sanghu of Ward No. 4, five houses are at high risk of landslides. In Ward No. 5, one family has been displaced while seven houses are at risk.

In Ward No. 6, eight families have been displaced due to landslides, Chairperson Wanem added.
