Sanjay Shah Takla, who escaped from Nakhu Prison during the Gen-Z protest, was arrested on 11 September by the Mangaltar Police in Kavre. According to the Mangaltar Police Station, Takla was taken into custody and handed over to the District Police Office in Dhulikhel on 11 September.
Takla, a former State Minister, was serving a life sentence as the main accused in the 2012 bomb explosion case at Ramananda Chowk, Janakpur, which resulted in the deaths of five people. He was also identified as the chief planner in the killing case of Arun Singaniya, the operator of Radio Today. Having served 12 years of his sentence, he escaped during the protests by setting fire inside the jail along with other inmates. Initially, Ravi Lamichhane, who was in custody for cooperative fraud, was released, after which Takla and other inmates managed to flee, according to the police.
Takla, along with 17 other inmates who escaped from the jail is scheduled to be transferred to Dillibazar Jail on 12 September.
