Due to the Gen-Z protest against corruption, mismanagement, and the social media ban, curfews and prohibitory orders have been imposed across various districts of Koshi Province. As the protest launched by the Gen-Z generation on 8 September entered its fourth day on 11 September, government services and daily life in Koshi Province have yet to return to normal. Government offices have been closed in Sankhuwasabha. The Sunsari District Court issued a public notice stating that its services have been stopped for now. According to INSEC Ilam representative Manoj Adhikari, the District Administration has issued a curfew under Section 6(a) of the Local Governance Act, 1971, from 8 PM on 11 September to 6 AM on 12 September. The District Administration Office stated that the curfew was imposed in consideration of the security situation in the district.
According to INSEC Sankhuwasabha representative Bhabin Karki, the District Administration Office has issued a prohibitory order under Section 3(a) of the Local Governance Act, 1971, from 10 AM to 6 PM on 11 September. Chief District Officer Sirjana Thapaliya stated that the order was issued in consideration of the security situation in the district due to the ongoing situation. In response to the protests, Khandbari Municipality suspended all government services on 11 and 12 September.
According to INSEC Terhathum representative Suresh Khatri, the District Administration Office has issued a prohibitory order from 10 AM to 6 PM on 11 September. Chief District Officer Prakashchandra Adhikari stated that the order was issued in consideration of the district’s security situation.
According to INSEC Morang representative Binod Subedi, the Morang District Administration Office issued a prohibitory order from 6 AM to 5 PM on 11 September. The curfew order was extended from 5 PM on 11 September until 6 AM on 12 September. Chief District Officer Indradev stated that both the prohibitory and curfew orders were extended in consideration of the district’s security situation.
According to INSEC Dhankuta representative Ishwar Thapa, the District Administration Office has imposed an indefinite prohibitory order from 11 AM on 11 September until further notice. Chief District Officer Shivram Gelal stated that the order was issued in consideration of the district’s security situation.
According to INSEC Okhaldhunga Representative Saraswati Baniya, the District Administration Office has issued a prohibitory order from 11 AM to 5 PM on 11 September. The order was issued in consideration of the district’s security situation.
According to INSEC Sunsari representative Jay Krishna Yadav, in view of the current situation, the curfew order has been extended even on the fourth day of the protests. Considering the district’s security situation, the Sunsari District Administration Office has imposed a curfew from 1 PM to 5 PM on 11 September and from 10 PM on 11 September to 10 AM on 12 September. Although the administration had temporarily eased movement within the district, the curfew has now been strictly enforced again.
The Nepal Army has intensified patrols in Inaruwa Municipality, Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City, and other areas of the district. The Sunsari District Court issued a notice announcing the suspension of all services until further notice on 11 September. The notice, signed by Registrar Tikendra Birjung Rana, stated that all court services have been halted due to the prevailing critical situation.
On 11 September, Koshi Rural Municipality issued a notice announcing the suspension of all services except essential ones until further notice.
According to INSEC Udayapur representative Rakesh Nepali, the District Administration Office issued a prohibitory order from 6 AM to 6 PM on 11 September. Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Luitel stated that the order was issued in consideration of the district’s security situation.
