Tila Rural Municipality Sealed Following Vandalism

Authorities have sealed Tila Rural Municipality following acts of vandalism. On 10 September, youths from Kudari and Kholigaun in Ward No. 3 vandalized the municipal office and enforced the closure in protest over the unavailability of an ambulance. A woman went into labor, and local youths contacted the municipality to dispatch an ambulance to take her to the hospital. However, when the ambulance was delayed, the youths vandalized the administrative building of the rural municipality and enforced a temporary closure in protest. According to Tila Rural Municipality Chairperson Motilal Rokaya, the recently constructed municipal building sustained damage to CCTV cameras, notice boards, windows, doors, digital boards, and other equipment. He stated that the vandalism occurred due to the failure to dispatch the ambulance promptly.

Similarly, Vice-Chairperson Gorikala Budha expressed regret over the incident, stating that instead of informing the office about the ambulance the administrative building was vandalized, causing damage. She emphasized that those involved in the incident should face legal action. She added that if the incident occurred due to the drivers’ negligence, the drivers should be asked for an explanation, while those who caused damage to the municipality should be brought under legal accountability.
