The court has sentenced Dipendra Yadav, 35, of Gadhawa Rural Municipality–6 to seven years in prison for raping a 21-year-old woman. The bench of District Judge Romakanta Gyawali on July 10 found the accused guilty and sentenced him to seven years in prison, imposed a fine of Rs 300,000, ordered compensation of Rs 25,000, and directed him to deposit Rs 1,300 into the victim relief fund, according to court registrar Damodar Ghimire.
The aggrieved party had filed a complaint at the Area Police Office in Gadhawa on June 16, 2024, stating that Yadav raped the woman on June 15. The victim underwent a health check-up at Rapti Academy of Health Sciences in Ghorahi on July 16. Police arrested the accused from his home on the same day.
