Police arrested Tinku, also known as Arun Jaiswal,28, of Pipara under Thana Pakariya in East Champaran district of Bihar, India, was arrested on July 7 from Pokhariya Municipality-1 in Parsa. According to SP Narendra Bahadur Kunwar of the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau, he was arrested on charges of luring a 20-year-old woman through social media, trafficking her to India, and forcing her to work as a dancer.
According to the victim, Jaiswal contacted her through Facebook, promising to include her in a stage dance show to be organized in Birgunj, offering a payment of Rs. 4,000 per show, along with free food and accommodation, and also assuring that transportation would be arranged if she faced financial difficulties. Based on this assurance, the victim was taken to Thankot from near Baba Petrol Pump in Kalanki on the night of April 12 via Pathao.
The victim stated that from Thankot, she was taken to Chhaudadano Kathnautiya in Motihari district, India, where she was kept in a house marked as a “musical orchestra group.” From there, she was forced to dance at five different places daily for about 17 to 18 hours. She further shared that she was subjected to sexual abuse, was not provided treatment when she fell ill, had her mobile phone seized, and was held captive and forced to work. SP Kunwar stated that the victim was rescued through the efforts of Maiti Nepal. According to the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau, further investigation is underway after the Kathmandu District Court extended Jaiswal’s remand by five days.
