Cooperative and Microfinance Victims’ Protest Continues for 26th Day

Victims of cooperatives and microfinance from various districts across the country, who have been protesting in Kathmandu since March 30, 2025, have stated that the government has not taken any steps to address their demands. The victims have been protesting in various parts of Kathmandu, claiming that the assurance made by the Ministry of Cooperatives on March 18 to return the principal interest of all cooperative victims by mid-April has not been fulfilled. The protests are ongoing at various locations, including Kalimati, Gongabu, near BG Mall at New Bus Park, Sifal, Shankhapark, Jawalakhel, and extending to Shanti Batika at Ratnapark. During these protests, when they attempted to enter restricted areas, the police responded with baton charges, arrests, and detentions. However, the cooperative victims have now shifted their approach, organizing peaceful rallies and sit-ins.

He also mentioned that the victims have several demands, including the implementation of the report concerning microfinance victims.
