INSEC Honored for its Contribution to Human Rights Field

On the occasion of the 115th International Women’s Day (March 8), Gauriganga Municipality honored INSEC by presenting a letter of appreciation on March 9. The recognition was given for INSEC’s significant contribution to human rights and women’s empowerment. Gauriganga Municipality’s Mayor, Devidatt Kadel, presented the letter of appreciation to Khadkaraj Joshi, the coordinator of INSEC Sudurpashchim Province office, Dhangadhi.

Mayor Kadel stated that INSEC was honored on the occasion of International Women’s Day as it has been working significantly in the field of human rights and women’s empowerment in Gauriganga Municipality for a long time. On the same occasion, Khadkaraj Joshi mentioned that various forms of discrimination persist in society. He highlighted that statistics show an increase in cases of violence against women, and emphasized the need for the effective implementation of laws created to end such discrimination. He also stressed the importance of expanding awareness programs to address these issues.

The program to celebrate the 115th International Women’s Day, organized by Gauri Ganga Municipality with the support and coordination of INSEC and other organizations, was held under the theme “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” During the event, Khadkaraj Joshi, the coordinator of INSEC Sudurpashchim Province office, Dhangadhi shed light on the statistics of human rights violations and abuses included in the Nepal Human Rights Yearbook 2025 and discussed the current state of human rights in Sudurpashchim.

Earlier, Kailari Municipality had honored INSEC with a certificate of appreciation for its significant role in the campaign against gender-based violence. The representatives from political parties, heads and representatives of government offices, women’s rights activists, human rights activists, journalists, and locals were present in the program.
