The District Court has sentenced 64-year-old Mangaram Tharu of Madhuban Municipality-4 to 12 years and 6 months imprisonment for the crime of raping a 71-year-old woman.
District Court Judge Dalluram Chaudhary’s bench on 23 December decided to sentence him to 12 years and 6 months imprisonment, pay a fine of Rs 3,50,000 and pay compensation of Rs 25,000 as per Amrita KC, branch officer and information officer of the district court.
Aggrieved party filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Dhodhari on 27 May, stating that the woman was raped on 26 May , 2023. Accused was arrested by the police on May 27.
The medical examination of the victim was done on 27 May at Bardiya Hospital, Gulariya.
