The senior citizens of Nalgad Municipality have complained that they are deprived of their social security allowance. They have not received this support since Gopal Shahi was appointed as the chief administrative officer, and the Ministry of General Administration did not grant financial rights on August 11. As the festival approaches, the elderly, who rely on the social security allowance for food and clothes, are worried about how they will celebrate Dashain.
Fatta Bahadur Chand of Nalgad Municipality-7 stated that he has not received the social security funds because they were not released by the local authorities on time. He expressed that celebrating the festival will be difficult without this crucial support from the government. Chand attributed the delay to the carelessness of the mayor, highlighting that the funds intended for helpless, disabled individuals, and senior citizens have not been disbursed in a timely manner.
Pamfa Shah, a senior citizen from the same area, noted that it will be challenging to gather food and other essentials if the government allowance for senior citizens is not distributed on time. He emphasized that the funds sent to the local level to uphold the rights of seniors to live with dignity have not been released.
Ward Chairman of Nalgad Municipality-4, Badri Bahadur Pant, stated that despite long discussions with the Mayor, the issue remains unresolved. He submitted a letter of attention , emphasizing the duty to provide financial rights. He mentioned that the amount for social security will be provided to the accounts starting October 9th.
Nalgad Municipality’s Mayor, Damwar Bahadur Rawat, stated that individuals eligible for social security allowances are in a difficult situation because the chief administrative officer has not been granted financial rights. He mentioned that citizens who rely on the government-provided security allowance are facing challenges during the festival season without their support.
