Over Three Thousand Families Deprived of Insurance Benefits in Dolakha

About 10,000 citizens from 3,178 families in Dolakha have been deprived of health insurance benefits because the Bagmati Province Government hasn’t paid Rs 1,09,58,150 for the insurance budget. In the budget for the current fiscal year 2023/2024, the provincial government had arranged to provide health insurance to the families of endangered, highly marginalized, and dependent citizens, as well as families of citizens with disabilities under the ‘B’ category, and families of female health volunteers living in the province.

Sushil Kumar Shrestha, Registration Officer at the Health Insurance Office in Dolakha stated that although health insurance forms were filled out to provide insurance benefits in March and July, 3,178 families did not receive these benefits due to the provincial government’s failure to pay for the insurance because of lack of budget.

In the district, there are 2,732 marginalized families, families of 331 female health volunteers, 117 families of people with disabilities under the ‘B’ category, and eight families of endangered castes who do not have access to health insurance facilities.
