Out of the 12 local levels of the district, 11 of them lack judicial courtrooms, causing problems in administration of justice. Jai Prithivi Municipality has recently undertaken a proactive measure by constructing a courtroom, aimed at facilitating the operational efficiency of the judicial committee. Despite the establishment of the local government, the absence of judicial courtrooms has been a persistent challenge. Jai Prithivi Municipality has become the first local level government to address this issue by constructing a courtroom.
Ratan Bahadur Singh, Judicial Committee Coordinator of Jai Prithivi Municipality said that although some of the deliberations in the judicial committee should be kept confidential, due to the lack of a courtroom, there is a problem when discussions are held in the middle of a crowd. He added that with the completion of the courtroom construction, there has been a more conducive environment to address and safeguard the privacy of victims in the days ahead.
The remaining 11 local levels within the district currently lack a dedicated judicial courtroom. Consequently, when the coordinators of the judicial committee accommodate the victim and the accused within their shared working space, issues related to confidentiality arise. This situation hampers open communication between the victim and the defendant, giving rise to additional challenges.
Singh reported that from July until the present, Jai Prithivi Municipality has received a total of nine complaints, encompassing issues such as disputes over drinking water, land disputes, crop destruction by cattle, and matters related to transactions.
Chetraj Bajal, the mayor of Jai Prithivi Municipality, highlighted that the absence of constructed courtrooms in the remaining 11 local levels of the district has led to difficulties for service users in seeking justice. In response to this issue, the establishment of a judicial bench room has brought ease in the administration of justice.
