Clashes Between Protesting Students And Police; Six People Including Four Students Injured

Students protested on October 8 in Bindabasini Rural Municipality. Six people including four students were injured in a clash between the students and the police during the demonstration.

The students of Nepal National Secondary School, Gardaula and Sri Radhakrishna Chaurasia Secondary School, Bahuarba Bhatha, Bindabasini Rural Municipality-2 have also demonstrated demanding that the transfer of teachers by the rural municipality should be canceled, regular classes should be conducted, science laboratories should be arranged in schools,lunch should be conducted, scholarships should be distributed, subject teachers should be arranged, and so on.

16-year-old Khem Bahadur Godh, 15-year-old Anurag Yadav, 16-year-old Bishal Yadav of class nine and 15-year-old Krishna Mukhiaat of class 8 at Nepal National Secondary School were injured during the demonstration.

According to the students,  Khem and Krishna sustained head injuries, while Anurag and Bishal suffered injuries to their hands.Likewise, Bhola Yadav and Sumit Yadav, the Office Assistants of the Rural Municipality, were also injured by the attack. All the injured were treated at Local Health institutions.

Inspector Mohan Bikram Thapa of the Area Police Office Pokharia explained that due to a student protest obstructing the road in front of the Rural Municipality Office, force was employed to clear the blockade. He claimed that the police batons did not cause head injuries to the students, and said that some students fell while running away and suffered only minor injuries.

Chairperson Pramod Tiwari of the Rural Municipality said that the students protested by the influence of the transferred teachers and the problem was solved when they were called and provided with an explanation. He also committed that the demands made by the students will be addressed immediately.
