Six individuals accused of trafficking infants from Biratnagar Metropolitan City-9 have been arrested by the police from Green Cross Hospital.
The police have arrested six individuals, including a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, the operator of Dipesh Medical Hall, as well as the former Medical Superintendent of Koshi Hospital, at Greencross Hospital.
The police claims that Dr. Karna and his associates were involved in trafficking infants born from illicit relationships to childless couples.
Dr. Karna and five individuals, namely 27-year-old Govind Rai of Bhojpuri Hatuwaghadi Rural Municipality-4, 46-year-old Dilmaya Rajvanshi from Morang Katahari Rural Municipality-2, 30-year-old Suryanarayan Rajvanshi from Siraha, 38-year-old Nirmala Yadav from Kalyanpur Municipality-12, and 33-year-old Sudha Rajvanshi, an employee at Green Hospital, have been accused of illegal abortion and infant trafficking.
Following the incident of the hospital allegedly abducting and trafficking Govind Rai’s daughter on June 29,2023, primary suspect, Dr. Karna, was arrested by the police at Saptakoshi Hospital on August 19.
