Three-Year Jail Sentence for Allegedly Murdering Daughter

District Court sentenced 29-year-old Sushma Bikal of Pokhara Metropolitan City-24 Kaskikot to three years in prison and fined her 30,000 rupees for poisoning and murdering her 11-year-old daughter.

On February 1, 2021, in the Municipality-2, Abukhaireni, Dhading, Sushma allegedly poisoned her daughter and herself while residing at the New Liglig Palace and Lodge. In a critical condition due to the poison consumption, Sushma and her daughter Kusum were immediately taken to Bharatpur’s old Medical College in Chitwan for treatment. Unfortunately, Kusum passed away on the same day.

Sushma had recovered after the treatment. In that incident, Manoj BK, the husband of the accused, filed a complaint against Sushma on February 6, 2021, and the police arrested Sushma on February 12, 2021.

On the September 1, 2021, the District Government Attorney’s Office had registered a murder case against Sushma in the District Court. Sushma had been in custody in Tanahu District from the September 3 for further legal proceedings.
