On July 19, Mahesh Nepali, a 41-year-old resident of Tulsipur sub-metropolitan city-15 in Dang, was arrested by the police in Gwarko, Lalitpur metropolitan city-9, Balkumari, on the charge of attempted rape against a 20-year-old girl.
The victim filed a complaint at the district police premises on the same day, stating that the accused had attempted to rape her on July 19. According to the information provided by District Police Complex Lalitpur, Information Officer SP Navraj Karki, the accused invited the victim to Sunrise Cafe in Gwarko under the pretext of offering her a job and then attempted to rape her.
On July 20, the victim underwent a medical examination at Patan Hospital to gather evidence related to the incident. Following the examination, the district court granted a five-day extension and ordered the detention of the accused, commencing the investigation into the incident.
