28-year-old Lalan Mairata of Bishnupur rural municipality-1 was arrested by the police on July 13, on the charge of assisting in the rape of a 14-year-old girl.
On February 8, the Area Police Office Kanchanpur registered a case against 19-year-old Shiv Shankar Yadav of Lohajara , Tirhut Rural Municipality-5 and Bishnudev Lagarwar Yadav of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-3 along with Mairata on the charge of rape.
The victim said that Shivshankar, who was riding behind the motorcycle driven by Mairata, promised to drop her home had raped her in a house located in Kankalini Municipality-1, Hanuman Nagar, from May 28, 2022 to June 1, 2022. The victim’s family member revealed that due to delayed information about the incident of abduction and rape of the victim, a delayed report was filed at the police office.
According to the victim’s mother, the victim lied to her family that she had gone to her friend’s sister’s wedding as she was threatened by the accused to make her family members disappear if she informed anyone about the incident. The mother of the victim said that she came to know about the incident on January 10 only after the victim came home crying after the accused forced her to have physical contact again.
The victim underwent a medical examination on January 13 at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajbiraj. Arrest warrants were issued against the accused on March 6, 2023.
The charge sheet was filed in the district court on June 22, 2023. The bench of District Judge Nabin Kumar Joshi sent the accused Maraita to Rajbiraj Jail on July 14, 2023.
