Accused of Rape Sentenced to 18 years and 6 months Imprisonment

The District Court of Byas Municipality-10, BP Bhanjyang, has sentenced a 20-year-old Yam Bahadur BK to 18 years and 6 months of imprisonment for the crime of  rape of a 14-year-old girl.

The District Court, as per the decision made on July 9, 2023, by Justice Komal Prasad Acharya, has found the accused guilty in the case and sentenced him to the aforementioned punishment, including a fine of Rs.6, 00,000 and a compensation of Rs. 15,000. The Registrar of the District Court, Min Bahadur Kunwar, provided this information. He was arrested after the complaints were received on allegations of  rape on November 30 2020 and conducting an abortion on May 27, 2021.

The police arrested BK on May 27, 2020 on the allegations of repeatedly raping the minor girl since November 30, 2020 and causing a forced abortion of the fetus remained due to rape.

The health examination of the victim was conducted on May 28, 2021 at Damouli Hospital. In the mentioned case, the Public Prosecutor’s Office registered a case on June 22, 2021, and as per the order of the district court, the accused has been remanded to the district prison under custody of the police since June 23,2021 for further investigation.
