District Court Judge Ritendra Thapa pronounced a verdict against Nirajan Thapa, aged 50, a resident of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-19, on June 26, 2023for the offense of attempted rape against a 22-year-old woman. The honorable judge, Ishwar Acharya, confirmed that the court sentenced the defendant to one year of imprisonment. In addition, the convicted individual has been ordered to pay a compensation of Rs.1,00,000 to the victim and a fine of Rs. 10,00 0.
The victim filed a formal complaint at the district police office on June 14, 2023, asserting that Thapa had made an attempt to rape her on June 11, 2022. Consequently, on the same day, Thapa was arrested, and a health examination of the victim was conducted at Bharatpur Hospital on June 14, 2023. The examination aimed to assess any physical or psychological harm inflicted upon the victim and provide necessary medical documentation.
Furthermore, Judge Avni Mainali, presiding over the case, remanded Thapa to prison on July 15, 2023, as per the court’s decision.
