District Court sentenced Nirmal Khatri, 21, of Bareng Rural Municipality to 10 years imprisonment for the crime of rape of a 16-year-old girl, on June 13, 2023.
Registrar Surya Prasad Bhandari informed that the bench of Judge Diwakar Bhatt sentenced Khatri to imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 400,000 and Rs. 20,000 rupees as compensation.
The victim filed a complaint at the District Police Office Baglung on April 22, 2019, saying that the accused had raped the victim girl on April 15, 2019.
The police arrested Khatri on April 22 and registered a case of rape in the District Court Baglung on May 17, 2023.
Khatri was remanded in judicial custody by the order of District Court Baglung on May 18.
The health examination of the victim girl was done on April 22, at Dhaulagiri Hospital, Baglung.
