President Ramchandra Paudel has issued an ordinance recommended by the government to address the problems of the meter-interest victims.
President Paudel has issued Ordinance 080 to amend legal acts related to the Civil Code, introduced by the government to solve the problems of the meter-interest victims.
According to the agreement reached on March 31, 2023, with the group of meter-interest victims, the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on May 2, 2023, decided to table an ordinance to the President.
According to the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, President Paudel has issued an ordinance under Article 114 (1) of the Constitution.
Meanwhile, with the promulgation of the Ordinance, activist Sanghharsh Dahal, who is associated with the Struggle Committee against Meter-interest Nepal, who signed an agreement with the government on April 1, 2023, said that the government has defined meter-interest-based transactions as an unfair transaction. The government through the ordinance has moved forward with the amendment process in the related laws.
Dahal requested the government to speedily conclude the process of amending the law as per the ordinance.
