District Court sentenced Rajkumar Das, 33, of Surunga Municipality-8 Mahulia to 4 years imprisonment on 9 April 2023 for the crime of rape of a 21-year-old woman.
According to court officer Dhrub Prasas Niraula District Judge Hark Bahadur Chhetri’s bench convicted the accused and sentenced him to 4 years in prison, with a compensation of Rs. 1,000,00 Rs 4,000 to the relief fund for victims of criminal offenses.
The victim filed a complaint at the Local Police Office Kadarbona on 22 March 2021, saying that the accused had raped her on the night of 20 March 2021.
The medical examination of the victim was done on 27 April 2021 at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajviraj. The victim had filed a complaint of attempted rape before this incident.
Area Police Office Kadarbona, Saptari registered a complaint on 23 June 2021. The district court issued an arrest warrant on 24 June. A charge sheet was filed in the district court on 13 March as the accused was absconding.
After the arrest of the accused, the bench of District Judge Ambika Prasad Dahal was remanded to judicial custody at Rajviraj Jail on 1 June 2022.
