Students Harassed Campus Principal, Chairman of the Management Committee and FSU Election Officer

A joint group of students registered for elections at Dhaulagiri Bahumukhi Campus abused the Campus Chief, Ram Prasad Upadhyay, Chairman of the Management Committee, Din Bahadur Thapa, and FSU Election Officer Bhaktiram Neupane in the evening of 13 March.

Alleging that the process was not carried out in the prescribed nomination schedule, the group locked Upadhyay, Thapa, and Neupane.

The joint student group alleged that the election committee did not conduct the distribution of nomination papers on 10 March and registration of nominations on 11 March. They had to extend the deadline and complete the work. While the discussion was going on, the students locked the Campus Chief’s office.

A week ago, some student organizations, ANNISU Revolutionaries, locked the election office demanding that all voters should have the same type of identity card and remove fake students from voter lists.

“We were discussing some alternative options to the problems when we were locked in.”-Campus Chief Upadhyay said.

After being detained, a team including the Chief District Officer and Superintendent of Police reached the campus. They reached a negotiation and freed the detained individuals.
