The half-burnt body of Padmakumari Khadka, 71 of Gokulganga Rural Municipality-4, Betali, was discovered, on 19 February in her house. The body was found under her carpet.
Gangadevi Basnet, Khadka’s neighbor, found the body and informed the police with the help of brother-in-law Ramchandra Basnet.
DSP Hom Bahadur Parajuli, Chief of District Police Office Ramechhap, said that the body with burns below the waist was found near the stove under a traditional carpet (gundri).
Postmortem of the body was done on 17 February at Manthali Hospital. DSP Parajuli said that the investigation of the incident has been initiated.
