Court Orders Life Imprisonment to the Guilty of Murder

The District Court of Ilam has sentenced Yubaraj Baniya, 35, of Ilam Municipality-5, Dhankuta, to life imprisonment for the killing 45-year-old Bimala Kumari Parajuli.

A bench of Judge Harish Chandra Ingnam on July 12 found him guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment, informed Shrestedar Phanindra Bhattarai.

The dead body of the victim Bimala Kumari was found half-naked in the District Court premises on July 12, 2021.

After her dead body was found, the police immediately arrested ASI Yubaraj Baniya for investigation. Baniya was working as a security guard for the district court judge.

During the investigation, the accused had confessed that he had committed the murder in the midst of a transaction dispute and had stolen the victim’s gold chain. A case was filed against the accused in the title of theft and murder on August 10, 2021.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and one more year for theft, added Bhattarai.

The post-mortem of the body was conducted at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan Ghopa on July 13, 2021.
