Police have arrested Chandra Kumar Rai, 40, a teacher of Deurali Secondary School, Santang, of Dhankuta Municipality-8, on the charge of sexually abusing his student. He was arrested on July 10.
The teacher has been accused of sexually abusing students from grade six to 10 after which the students filed a complaint against him on July 10.
The accused teacher had sexually abused the student on July 5 and the complaint against him on July 10 at District Police Office, informed SP Laxmi Raj Adhikari.
Police arrested the accused from the school premises on July 10.
The victims told INSEC that the accused teacher had been using flattery and vulgar words, touching sensitive parts of girls, pinching their cheeks, and pulling them holding their waist.
The teacher has been working in the school for the last 14 years in the relief quota. The accused had been exploiting the students for one year and his actions were exposed on July 5, when a student was sexually abused by the teacher during the birthday celebration of another female teacher of the school.
The school’s principal Yam Bahadur Basnet said that the teacher who had absconded after the incident was called to the school for discussion and was arrested in a planned manner.
However, the victims had alleged principal Basnet of tearing the application submitted by the victims sharing their problem and had tried to reconcile the case.
Ram Kumar Athapahariya, a member of the School Management Committee, told INSEC that he had received information that Rai had been sexually abused by a student of grade 10.
