Clash Between Maoist Cadres; One Injured

In a clash between the cadres of Maoist, a person was injured in Hima Rural Municipality. According to the police, there was a scuffle between the two parties over the issue of receiving ticket for the local level election’s candidate. The clash took place after the CPN-Maoist received tickets for two candidates from the district.

According to District Police Office Inspector Bhuwan Bhatta, Kalpana Pariyar had earlier registered her candidature for the post of Deputy-Chairperson of the CPN-Maoist and later the ticket was issued in the name of Vinisa Rokaya after which her Kalpana’s ticket was held.

According to him, there was a clash between the two over that issue. Chhatra Adhikari of Hima Rural Municipality-6 was also injured in the clash. Vinisa Rokaya said she was sent by her party and was lined up with the ticket however, someone had taken another ticket and registered Kalpana’s name. Police further informed that Adhikari was sent to Karnali Institute of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital for treatment.

According to the Office of the, Vinisa had given independent candidature for the post of Deputy-chairperson while Kalpana had given nomination for the same post from the party. A team including Inspector Bhatt had reached Hima Rural Municipality after the clash.

CPN-Maoist central member and district in-charge Gajendra Bahadur Mahat said that the problem arose as Kalpana’s name had been registered at the local level.

Raj Bahadur Shahi of the CPN-Maoist Centre had won the local level election of 2017 by getting three more votes than Bhairab Bahadur Rokaya of the then UML and CPN Unified Socialist.
