Court Orders Life Imprisonment to the Guilty of Killing

A 16-year-old boy has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the district court for killing 16-year-old Kabita Bohara, a resident of Tallokabhra in Triveni Municipality-1.

Shrestedar Hemant Gyawali of the District Court told INSEC that the bench of District Court Judge Kul Prasad Pandey sentenced Bohara’s killer to life imprisonment on October 28, 2021.

According to Gyawali, the boy was sentenced to life imprisonment based on the statement where he had confessed his deeds. According to his statement, the guilty had repeatedly shown his love interest to the deceased but she showed no interest and in the aggression of the situation, he had killed her on February 14, 2020.

The post-mortem of the body was conducted at the District Hospital, Salyan on February 15, 2020.

According to Shrestedar Gyawali, since the guilty is a minor, his imprisonment will be reduced to half therefore he will be imprisoned for only 12 years and six months as per the Children’s Act 2075 BS.

The decision also specifies compensation of NRs. 100,000 to the family of the deceased from the perpetrator’s side.
