Police have arrested Sikindar Mahato, 35, his wife Puranidevi Mahato, 32, his mother Pramiladevi Mahato, 65 and his brother Anil Mahato, 20 on the charge of misbehaving with Sukamariya Devi, 42, of Jaleshwor Municipality-4 and feeding her faeces with the allegation of witchcraft.
Police have informed that they have recovered a nylon rope used to tie the victim, pieces of the victim’s hair, a plastic glass used to choke the victim with faeces and a bottle of beer.
According to Ranjan Mishra, Inspector at the District Police Office, Mahottari, Sikindar’s 13-year-old daughter Kajal Kumari had started crying as soon as she saw Sukamariya Devi after which the accused had alleged her to be a witch.
