Policies and Programs in Tilottama: Prioritized Education and Health Sector

The Tilottaman municipality has made published the policies and programs for the coming fiscal year 2021/22 on June 16, 2021 by prioritizing the education and health sector.

In the first meeting of the 10th Municipal Assembly, Mayor Basudev Ghimire said that the policy and program aimed at ‘Prosperous City: Happy Citizens’ has focused on education, health and nutrition in childhood, skills, entrepreneurship and employment in youth, veneration for senior citizens in the latter half of life, protection and creation of equal opportunities for women.

It is mentioned in the policy and program that the economic and social sector is being affected due to COVID-19.

Similarly, the policy and program has made arrangements to provide basic health services at home to the senior citizens in the age group of 70 years and persons with disabilities by making the government health institution well-equipped.

In the field of education, regular eye check-up of community school children will be arranged in the school. It has also been announced to provide clean drinking water, internet service in the school and special scholarships for the children of those who have died due to COVID-19.

An arrangement has been made to provide social security allowance of NRs 6,000 per annum to people with disability with the yellow card and have not received any government facility. The municipality has also made the policy of giving 100 percent tax exemption on industries and businesses run by persons with disabilities, 50 percent tax exemption on businesses run by single women and integrated property tax.

Mayor Ghimire said that the data has been collected by signing a working agreement with the Squatters Problem Resolution Commission to provide land ownership to the landless Dalits, and squatters and the necessary preparations for land survey have already been made.

The municipality has announced to provide a grant of NRs. 200,000 per household to build houses for 50 families belonging to certain most deprived communities in the coming fiscal year by conducting ‘Mayor City Housing Program’.
