Dalamu Sherpa, 40, of Dhungesanghu in Maiwakhola Rural Municipality-1 has been sentenced to seven months of imprisonment by the district court on June 16, 2021, for killing a one-year-old girl Futuki Sherpa by pouring hot water on her on November 19, 2020.
A bench of Judge Prakash Raut has ordered to pay a fine of NRs. 7,000 and compensation of NRs 40,000 along with imprisonment for the murder of an infant, informed court Judge Shambhu Regmi.
The accused had poured hot water on the victim while her mother Doma Sherpa, 26, was holding the victim in her arms.
The infant was injured due to hot water and died on the same day.
The victim’s mother had lodged a complaint against the accused at the District Police Office on November 20, 2020.
The accused was arrested by the police on the same day and a case was registered in the district court on December 16, 2020.
The accused was remanded in custody by the district court on December 17, 2020.
The postmortem of the body was conducted at the District Hospital on November 21, 2020.
